Power Takes Game One

September 5, 2007
Hickory, NC-The Hickory Crawdads lost to the West Virginia Power, 12-2, on Wednesday at L.P. Frans Stadium. With the win, West Virginia took a 1-0 lead in the best of three playoff series. Mike Ambrose had a pair of hits in the Crawdads loss.

The Power took a 1-0 lead on Taylor Green's solo HR in the 2nd. Hickory evened the score as Jonel Pacheco hustled home and beat a throw from 1B John Alonso on a grounder hit by Kent Sakamoto.

The Power took a 2-1 lead in the 3rd, but Hickory squared things up again on a solo HR belted to right by Bobby Kingsbury in the 4th.

Things took a turn for the worse as West Virginia scored 5 runs in the 5th and 4 runs in the 6th. The innings were highlighted by Charlie Fermaint's 2-run HR and Green's 2-run double. The Crawdads could not make up for the runs and eventually went down, 12-2.
