Prep Baseball Showcase this Sat. will start at 11:30am!

Hickory, N.C. - The Hickory Crawdads, South Atlantic League affiliate of the Texas Rangers, have announced the details of the 2012 Prep Baseball Showcase Showdown at L.P. Frans Stadium on Saturday, March 3. The showcase will consist of four exciting match-ups featuring high school teams from around the area, including rematches from last year's Class 3A and Class 4A State Championship Series. The first game of the showcase will start at 9 a.m. Check out all the details below!

Additionally, all fans that check in at the Crawdads 1st Base Concessions Stand during the 3rd inning of all four prep games will receive four FREE tickets that can be used at any of the 'Dads 2012 Opening Weekend games (Thurs, April 12 - Sun, April 15). Also, the Crawdads will select one lucky fan that checks in during all four prep games to throw out a Ceremonial First Pitch before a 2012 Opening Weekend game!

Here are all the details on the four great Prep Showcase Showdown games:

Game 1: North Stanly Comets vs. South Stanly Rowdy Rebels
First Pitch: Canceled

Game 2: Cherryville Ironmen vs. Randleman Tigers
First Pitch: 11:30 a.m.
Notes: The Tigers are the defending Class 2A State Champions... The Tigers won the 2011 State Championship against East Rutherford by throwing a runner out at home to win the game... The Tigers ended the season 28-4... Cherryville competes in Class 1A baseball... The Ironmen are well known for their vast traveling fan base.

Game 3: South Point Red Raiders vs. Northeast Guilford Rams
First Pitch: 2 p.m.
Notes: Rematch of last year's Class 3A Championship Series, which South Point won, 2-games-to-1... After dropping the first contest, the Red Raiders won the final two games of the series to become State Champions... The Rams lost their top two pitchers but return the majority of their starters from 2011.

Game 4: Holly Springs Golden Hawks vs. TC Roberson Rams
First Pitch: 4:30 p.m.
Notes: Rematch of Class 4A State Championship, which Holly Springs won 2-games-to-0... The Golden Hawks lost 11 seniors from their championship team last year... Rams SS Tim McKeithan has signed to play at Brown University next year... Rams OF James Nevant has signed to play with the University of Notre Dame next season.
