Player Org Move
Manny Machado BAL Promoted from Double-A Bowie to Orioles
Notes:'s No. 3 prospect will go from Baysox shortstop to Baltimore's third baseman, as the American League East club makes a run at the playoffs. Machado will be more ready to contribute on defense than offense, at least right away. The 20-year-old righty hitter batted .266 and reached base safely in 35 percent of his plate appearances over 109 Eastern League games. He completed the cycle in his fifth-to-last Minors game on 8/4.
Dylan Bundy BAL Promoted from Class A Adv. Frederick to Double-A Bowie
Notes:'s No. 7 will wear a third uniform in his first pro season (and he won't get to be teammates with Machado). The 19-year-old right-hander, really the story of the Minors' first half, is 7-3 and has fashioned a 1.92 ERA in 19 starts between Class A Delmarva and Frederick. No. 20 occurs in tougher environs on Aug. 14.
Glynn Davis BAL Demoted from Class A Adv. Frederick to Class A Delmarva
Nick Delmonico BAL Placed on Class A Delmarva DL (knee)
Xander Bogaerts BOS Promoted from Class A Adv. Salem to Double-A Portland
Notes:'s No. 62 prospect batted .302 and clubbed 15 homers and 27 doubles in 104 games in the Carolina League. His bat will be tested in the Eastern League.
Brandon Workman BOS Promoted from Class A Adv. Salem to Double-A Portland
Kolbrin Vitek BOS Placed on Double-A Portland DL
Amir Garrett CIN Promoted from Arizona League to Rookie-level Billings
Jorge Soler CHC Promoted from Arizona League to Class A Peoria
Brett Jackson CHC Promoted from Triple-A Iowa to Cubs
Notes:'s No. 28 prospect -- and his I-Cubs teammate below -- finally joins Anthony Rizzo in Chicago. Jackson, a 24-year-old center fielder, hit 15 homers and stole 27 bags in the Pacific Coast League but will have to cut down his strikeout total (158 in 106 games) in the bigs. He recorded his first MLB hit on Aug. 5.
Josh Vitters CHC Promoted from Triple-A Iowa to Cubs
Javier Baez CHC Promoted from Class A Peoria to Class A Adv. Daytona
Notes:'s No. 50 prospect got off to a slow start by design this season, but he sure has sped up. Baez, a 19-year-old shortstop, posted .333/.383/.596 marks for the Midwest League's Chiefs prior to his callup. He doubled and drove in three runs at Daytona on 8/7.

Zack Cox MIA Activated off Double-A Jacksonville DL (hamstring)
Jean Segura MIL Promoted from Double-A Huntsville to Brewers
Notes:'s No. 38 prospect didn't have much time alongside Scooter Gennett after all. The 22-year-old shortstop went 13-for-30 at the plate in his first eight games following the July 27 trade from Los Angeles. Though Milwaukee has filled a void up the middle, it has done so with a player who, in most scouts' eyes, is in need of additional seasoning in the Minors. Segura recorded his first MLB hit on Aug. 8.
Jed Bradley MIL Placed on Class A Adv. Brevard County DL (arm fatigue)
Johnny Hellweg MIL Placed on Double-A Huntsville DL (minimizing his innings)
Logan Schafer MIL Activated off Triple-A Nashville DL
Kyle Gibson MIN Assigned to Class A Adv. Fort Myers (elbow surgery)
Zack Wheeler NYM Promoted from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Buffalo
Notes:'s No. 21 prospect was uneven in his International League debut on Aug. 6, yielding two runs on three hits and four walks over 4 2/3 frames. Improved command -- the kind of control he showed consistently for the B-Mets -- would serve him well if the final month of 2012 is to be his last in the Minors.
