Rancho Cucamonga, CA - The Los Angeles Dodgers have announced their minor league coaching staffs for the upcoming 2013 season, including that of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
Taking over the reigns as Quakes' manager will be Carlos Subero, who joins the club from Double-A Chattanooga of the Southern League, where he's spent the previous three seasons guiding the Lookouts.
Now in his fifth year in the Dodgers' system, Subero will be managing his third Cal League team. His first year in the Dodgers' system, he skippered Inland Empire and prior to that, he managed the Bakersfield Blaze, then a Texas Rangers' affiliate.
Subero's last two years in Chattanooga were strong, as his club made it to the post-season in both 2011 and 2012.
"We're excited to welcome Carlos to Rancho Cucamonga," said Vice President/General Manager Grant Riddle. "We're hopeful that his recent success at Double-A will carry over here in the Cal League and bring the Quakes a great season."
Joining Subero will be just one returning member from last year's staff, as pitching coach Matt Herges returns to the club for his second straight season and third year overall in the Dodgers' coaching system.
New to the Quakes will be hitting coach Johnny Washington who joins Rancho after one year as a coach at the Dodgers' Spring Training home at Camelback Ranch-Glendale and three years as the hitting coach for Ogden of the Short-Season Pioneer League.
Manager Juan Bustabad and hitting coach Michael Boughton, both of whom had been with the Quakes for the previous two years, are no longer within the Dodgers' system.
