Raleigh Hot Stove League Banquet

The Raleigh Hot Stove League will stage its 62nd annual banquet Tuesday January24th at the McKimmon Center on the NC State University campus in Raleigh. A silent auction will begin at 5:15pm with the banquet to follow at 6pm.

Former major league outfielder Doug Glanville will be the headline speaker. Glanville is currently one of the anchors of ESPN Baseball Tonight and a published baseball author.

Minor League Baseball President Pat O'Conner will also deliver remarks at the banquet.

University of South Carolina Head Baseball Coach Ray Tanner will receive the Will Wynne Award. That is the organizations honor for the greatest contribution to baseball in the previous season. Tanner guided the Gamecocks to their second consecutive College World Series title in 2010.

Baseball America founder Allan Simpson will receive the Willie Duke Lifetime Achievement Award. Simpson was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame last year.

University of North Carolina Head Baseball Coach Mike Fox will receive the Board of Directors Special Achievement Award after again guiding the Tarheels to a College World Series berth.

NC State University catcher Pratt Maynard is the organization's College Player of the Year.

Wake Forest University Head Baseball Coach Tom Walter will receive the Mills Brothers Love of the Game Award.

High school honors go to Holly Springs High School's Carlos Rodon , currently playing at NC State.

Longtime baseball writer Bill Woodward will be honored with the annual Media Award.

Tickets are on sale at Durham Bulls Athletic Park, Five County Stadium in Zebulon, and Johnson Lambe Sporting Goods in Raleigh's Cameron Village . Individual tickets are priced at $35.
