Raptors Slam Ghosts

Pericht hits two homers

The Ogden Raptors used four home runs to fuel a 9-7 win over the Casper Ghosts at Mike Lansing Field Tuesday night.

Trailing 2-0 in the second inning, with two outs and a full count, Austin King hit a grand slam over the wall in centerfield to give the Raptors a 4-2 advantage.

Ogden added to its lead in the third when Mike Pericht hit a two run shot to right field to give the Raptors a 6-2 lead.

After a four-run fifth inning brought Casper within one run, Jesse Bosnik led off the sixth inning with a solo shot to right to bring Ogden's lead to 8-6.

Pericht ended the home run brigade with his second home run of the game and third of the season with a solo homer to left field in the seventh inning.

In Monday's game, Pericht was a triple short of the cycle while going 3-4. Tuesday, Pericht was a triple short again of the cycle. The Ogden catcher went 4-5 with two homers, a double and four RBI.

Jake Lemmerman added three hits for the Raptors, scoring twice.

The Raptors' bullpen was fantastic. Raul Burgos earned his first win of the season. He worked 2 2/3 innings, gave up four hits and one run out of relief. Burgos (1-0) struck out two and walked one.

Then Luis Ferreras went 1 1/3 innings of one-hit ball followed by J.J. Whetsel earning his first save of the season, getting the last two outs.

Casper starter Alvin Mejias (0-1) got the loss. In 4 1/3 innings, the right-hander gave up six runs, five earned, on eight hits and two walks.

Jonathan Garcia added his second outfield assist of the series by throwing out Juan Crouset at second, who was trying to stretch a single into a double.

The rubber match of the opening series is Wednesday at 7:05. The Raptors will throw Garrett Gould against the Ghosts' Albert Campos. The game can be heard on 1280 The Zone.
