Rehabbing Wright fuels St. Lucie rout

The left side of the Mets infield had a pretty productive day in the Minors on Monday.

David Wright went 3-for-6 with three runs scored in his fourth rehab game to help Class A Advanced St. Lucie crush Clearwater, 19-4, at Digital Domain Park. Wright's big game came hours after rehabbing Mets shortstop Jose Reyes went 1-for-3 with a double at Class A Short-Season Brooklyn.

Wright was the lone batter in the Mets lineup to finish without an RBI in a game that started with a seven-run first inning and saw an outfielder take the mound by the eighth.

The former National League All-Star singled and scored in the first, fourth and seventh innings. He came up twice in the seventh, popping up to foul territory to end the four-run frame.

Wright was 3-for-9 in his rehab games entering Monday as he recovers from a stress fracture in his lower back. He could return to New York this weekend.

"We have nothing etched in stone," Mets manager Terry Collins told MLB.com, "but we're looking toward the weekend."

Wright hit .226 with six home runs in 39 games prior to landing on the disabled list on May 18.

"He's not as sore or stiff as he thought he was going to be," Collins said. "Each game, he's seeing the ball better. He's feeling more comfortable."

The game was full of oddities -- Wright, one of the Majors' top run producers, failed to knock home any of the 19 runs. The Mets totaled 20 hits, but only four extra-base hits and no home runs.

St. Lucie starter Darin Gorski, who had only nine wins combined in his first two seasons, improved to a perfect 10-0 after holding the Threshers to three runs over five frames. He struck out five.

Brian Gump, a Phillies outfielder batting .232, ended up with the best pitching line of the day -- the lefty, who homered in each of his previous two games -- went 1-for-5 before taking the mound to throw a perfect eighth for Clearwater. He struck out Stefan Welch swinging to end the inning.

St. Lucie's Francisco Pena, who had two RBIs in his previous nine games, ended up plating four from the No. 9 hole for St. Lucie. Cesar Puello, Robbie Shields, Cory Vaughn and Jefry Marte each knocked in two runs.
