Reno Flies Past RedHawks, 5-3

August 19, 2010
OKLAHOMA CITY-A two-run homer for Doug Deeds and another quality start by Matt Torra helped lift the Reno Aces to a 5-3 win over the Oklahoma City RedHawks Thursday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark.

The Aces scored all five of their runs between the second and fourth innings-capped by a two-run blast off the bat of Deeds, his 10th of the season. Torra would make those five runs stand up, as he surrendered just two runs over seven innings of work.

Oklahoma City put up a run in the seventh and another in the eighth, but Carlos Rosa came on in the ninth to slam the door.

Torra (10-6) earned his team-leading 10th win, Jason Urquidez collected his team-best 12th hold, and Rosa earned his team-leading eighth save.

The loss fell to RedHawks starter Guillermo Moscoso (7-6), who allowed five runs on 10 hits over six frames.

At the plate for Reno, Ed Rogers doubled and singled twice, while Mark Hallberg collected two hits, a run and an RBI. Deeds finished with two hits and three runs driven in.

The Aces and RedHawks close out the series on Friday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. RHP Bryan Augenstein (5-7, 6.68 ERA) earns the start for Reno, while Oklahoma City will counter with RHP Brandon McCarthy (2-0, 2.48 ERA). First pitch is set for 5:05 p.m. PT.

Reno returns home Saturday, August 21, for a four-game series against Tacoma.
