RHP Guerra Promoted to Rochester

April 29, 2012

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, announced today that RHP Deolis Guerra has been promoted to Triple-A Rochester.  He has left the Rock Cats on the current road trip and will meet the Red Wings on their road trip in Buffalo, New York.

This will be Guerra's second time in the International League as he pitched five games (four starts) at Rochester in 2010.  He has spent parts of the past four years pitching for the New Britain Rock Cats in the Eastern League.  The Rock Cats will not fill his spot on the roster today and will be three players short of the EL maximum 25 for tonight's game at Richmond.

Guerra, 23, has been one of the best Rock Cats relievers this season, going 2-0 with a 0.71 ERA (1 ER 12.2 IP) in seven relief appearances at New Britain.  He is on the Twins 40-man major league roster and is the only player left in the Twins system in the trade that sent P Johan Santana to the New York Mets in February 2, 2008.  In four seasons in the Eastern League, Guerra went 18-20 with a 5.51 ERA in 75 games and 40 starts.  He moved to the bullpen last season and pitched much better in relief.
