River Bandits open registration

Parents can sign kids up for new Frost Fest contests
November 1, 2012
DAVENPORT, Iowa -- This holiday season the children of the Quad Cities area have a new opportunity at the River Bandits' annual indoor Frost Fest at Modern Woodmen Park. Registration is open for the first-ever Mr. Frost and Miss Snowflake contests that will highlight the family fun at the fifth annual indoor Frost Fest from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sun, Dec. 16.

Girls and boys ages 10 and younger can enter the Miss Snowflake and Mr. Frost contests, respectively. Information and advance registration forms for all three age groups -- Photogenic Baby (ages 0 to 3 years), Little (4 to 6) and Junior (7 to 10) -- are available at www.riverbandits.com/frostfest. Each contestant must pay an entry fee and will receive four tickets to the River Bandits' 2013 home opener, Thu, April 11. All the proceeds from the contest will benefit the Bandit Scholars Program.

"The Miss Snowflake and Mr. Frost contests will add to the family fun and excitement of celebrating the holidays at Modern Woodmen Park," said River Bandits owner, Dave Heller. "The contestants and their families will enjoy an affordable and memorable experience, and the whole Quad Cities community can share the giving spirit for a great cause -- helping talented Quad Cities students attend college through the Bandit Scholars Program."

All winners will receive a trophy courtesy of Crown Trophy. Each Little and Junior category winner will receive a crown from Riddle's Jewelry or top hat from Hope's Bridal, a sash, and a 2013 River Bandits Kids Club membership. The Little and Junior winners will also be part of the River Bandits' 2013 summer Christmas celebration at the ballpark and other community events.

The photogenic Baby Snowflake and Baby Frost contests will be a people's choice vote with a money jar for each contestant. The contestant whose jar earns the most money will be the winner. Each Baby winner will receive half of the money raised by his or her respective contest, as well as a $50 savings bond.

Admission is free to the indoor Frost Fest event on Dec. 16, although the River Bandits encourage donations to the Bandit Scholars Program, which pays the entire first year of college tuition for two Quad Cities area students. All donations, as well as proceeds from the contests, will benefit the Bandit Scholars Program.

"We are excited to grow Frost Fest with new contests for the whole River Bandits family to enjoy," said general manager, Stefanie Brown. "As a fundraiser for the Bandit Scholars Program, these contests can be unique -- perhaps one of this year's Frost Fest contestants will be a future scholarship winner!"

Full details of the contests are available at www.riverbandits.com/frostfest. Further details about the indoor Frost Fest will be available in the weeks preceding the event.
