RiverDogs Shut Out GreenJackets

Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets winless streak was extended on Saturday evening to six games, a season high, after being shut out by the Charleston RiverDogs, 6-0.

The RiverDogs began their scoring when Francisco Arcia led off the third inning with a single to right center field. Arcia was bunted over twice to third and scored on a blooper to right field. Cody Grice then scored on an RBI sacrifice fly off the bat of Cito Culver to take a 2-0 lead on the GreenJackets.

The RiverDogs added to their lead in the fourth when Saxon Butler reached on a single, advanced to third on an Jose Cuevas error, and was plated on an RBI groundout from Arcia and increased the lead to 3-0.

In the top of the fifth, Ben Gamel hit an RBI triple to right center to bring home Ali Castillo and extend Charleston's lead by a run.

Charleston added a couple insurance runs in the top of the ninth with a two out, two-RBI single off the bat of Culver to finish the night's scoring at 6-0.

Garrett Buechele led the GreenJackets offense going 2-for-3. Jesus Galindo recorded two of his own hits Saturday night.

Paul Davis (5-5) suffered the loss in Saturday night's contest after giving up four runs, three of which were earned, on eight hits. Davis struck out five batters, walking none.

Castillo, Butler, Arcia, and Grice all had two hits apiece for the RiverDogs.

Brett Gerritise (4-5) recorded the win for Charleston after coming in in relief in the third inning for Scottie Allen. Gerritise, Allen, and Nick Goodin combined for the shutout and while Allen and Gerritise each struck out four batters.

The GreenJackets and RiverDogs will face off in game three Sunday with first pitch at 5:35 p.m. with gates opening at 4:30 p.m.. Sunday is Kids Eat Free Day!
