Robbins perfect 4-for-4 vs. Kane County

Fourth-round Twins pick's career off to electric start
June 30, 2006
Whitney Robbins' professional career is off to a blistering start.

In his second game with the Snappers, the 21-year-old third baseman went 4-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs to lead Beloit to a 9-6 victory over Kane County on Thursday.

Robbins hit a single in the top of the second inning, delivered a two-run single in the third, belted a solo homer in the fifth, was hit by a pitch in the seventh and capped his perfect night with an RBI single in the ninth.

In his first game with the Snappers (5-3), Robbins went 1-for-2 with a triple, two RBIs and two walks. He's batting .833 with a 1.667 slugging percentage.

Earlier this month, the Minnesota Twins plucked Robbins from Georgia Tech with their fourth-round selection in the First-Year Player Draft.

In addition to Robbins' blast, Erik Lis and Dwayne White also went deep as the Snappers built a 9-1 lead. The Cougars (4-4) made things interesting by putting up a five-spot in the bottom of the ninth.

Oswaldo Sosa (6-5) pitched brilliantly, surrendering an unearned run on six hits in eight innings. He struck out four and did not walk a batter as his ERA dropped to 2.59.

Trey Shields (6-8) took the loss, giving up five runs on six hits in four innings.
