Robertson to call some Spokane games

Hall-of-Fame broadcaster enters 13th year with Indians
May 4, 2012
SPOKANE, Wash. -- One of the most revered and recognizable voices in the Northwest will return to the press box for another year, as the Spokane Indians announced today that Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Bob Robertson will serve as a guest announcer for select games throughout the 2012 season.

"I'm excited to return for another year with the Indians," said Robertson. "I've made some wonderful memories in my time with the team, and I'm looking forward to being a part of this great organization."

Robertson retired as the full-time announcer of the Indians at the end of the 2010 season but teamed up with Mike Boyle to call 20 games last year. Robertson will once again join Boyle in 2012, starting Opening Day, June 15, for a five-game homestand against the Vancouver Canadians. Robertson will also call the majority of road games against Salem-Keizer, Eugene, Everett and Vancouver.

"Bob is a terrific broadcaster and an even better person," said Indians senior vice president, Otto Klein. "He has long been a great ambassador for the sport and we are thrilled to have him back in the press box for another season."

In 2011, the Indians organization renamed the press box at Avista Stadium as the Bob Robertson Press Box to honor his long-time service to the team and the city of Spokane.

Robertson is currently calling Monday home games for the Tacoma Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League, and will return to Pullman in the fall for his 46th season of Washington State Cougars football. He was inducted into the Washington Sports Hall of Fame in 2007 and is a 12-time Washington State Sportscaster of the Year award recipient.
