Rochester pours it on early

Red Wings score 10 runs on eight hits in first inning
June 7, 2010
The Rochester Red Wings wasted no time getting on the board Monday night vs. the Toledo Mud Hens in the International League.

The Twins' Triple-A affiliate posted a 10-spot in the bottom of the first inning of a 15-3 shellacking in the doubleheader opener at Frontier Field.

All 10 runs -- nine of which were earned -- were charged to Toledo starter Ruddy Lugo (1-3), who recorded just two outs before he was lifted from the game.

The Mud Hens went down in order in the top of the first, then the Red Wings came to bat. Jason Repko led off with a walk and Trevor Plouffe flew out to left.

Brian Dinkelman singled to put runners on the corners for Jose Morales, who doubled to left to plate both runners. Dustin Martin followed with an RBI single and Wilson Ramos made it 4-0 with an RBI double.

The next batter, former Major Leaguer Jacque Jones, doubled to plate Ramos. Matt Macri struck out for the second out of the inning, but Brock Peterson followed with a walk to put two men on base.

Repko singled in Jones and Plouffe followed with an RBI single to make it 7-0. With runners on first and second, Dinkelman delivered a triple to right that extended the lead to 9-0 and chased Lugo.

The final run of the inning scored on a fielding error by Toledo shortstop Brent Dlugach. Martin struck out to end the frame.

Glen Perkins (1-6) was the beneficiary of the run production en route to his first win of the season. He allowed three runs on six hits and struck out three over five innings.
