wimmersNew Britain, CT-  The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, has placed RHP Alex Wimmers on the disabled list with a right elbow strain.

Wimmers, 23, has not pitched since his Eastern League debut on April 9 vs Harrisburg.  He was not part of the decision in the Rock Cats 6-3 win against the Senators, going 4.1 innings and allowing two runs on six hits (2BB, 3K).  Wimmers is listed by Baseball America as the Twins #25 prospect in the minor league system.  He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins as its top pick in 2010 (21st overall) from Ohio State University.

The Rock Cats roster is now at 23 active players, two short of the Eastern League maximum.

The Rock Cats continue their second homestand tonight against the Red Sox affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs.  Tickets are available by calling 860-224-8383.
