The Salem Red Sox, the Advanced Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have released their game schedule for the 2012 season, the fourth year as a Boston Red Sox affiliate and 46th season in the Carolina League.
"We are thrilled about the support we have received from the community and our fans over the past three years as a Boston Red Sox affiliate," said Todd Stephenson, Salem Red Sox General Manager. "We cannot wait to spend another great season with our fans in 2012."
Salem opens its season on the road against the 2011 Carolina League champion Frederick Keys (Baltimore Orioles) on Friday, April 6. The Salem Red Sox will open at home a week later on Friday, April 13 at 7:05PM against the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Texas Rangers). The opening homestand will feature a three-game weekend series against the Pelicans followed by a three-game series against "460 Rival" Lynchburg Hillcats (Atlanta Braves).
Sox Fest, Salem's annual pre-season celebration, will be held at LewisGale Field on Saturday, April 7. More details about the event will be available in March.
Game times for the 2012 season are 7:05PM for weekday games, 6:05PM on Saturdays and 4:05PM on Sundays. A few dates of note on the 2012 schedule are Father's Day (June 17th) and four weekday day-games on Wednesday, May 9th (11:00AM), Wednesday, May 23rd (11:00AM), Monday, May 28th (1:05PM, Memorial Day), and Monday, September 3rd (1:05PM, Labor Day). May 9th and 23rd have been scheduled for local area schools who participate in the Salem Red Sox Reading Program during the 2011-2012 school year. Both games will feature an 11:05AM game time start, a discounted lunch package for students and staff, and a pregame parade for all participants in the Salem Red Sox Reading Program. The Carolina League All-Stars will meet their California League counterparts for the 2012 All-Star game on Tuesday, June 19th in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Ticket prices for the 2012 year are $8 for general admission, $9 for reserved seats, $10 for dugout box seats, and $11 for strike zone box seats. Seniors (65+), children (12 and under), and members of the military will all receive a $1 discount per ticket. The Red Sox will play a balanced home schedule which features 13 games in April, 11 games in May, 14 games in June, 15 games in July, 14 games in August and 3 games in September.
