Salem Red Sox Release Promotional Calendar

Salem, VA (March 8, 2012)- The Salem Red Sox, Advanced Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox have released their 2012 promotional schedule. Opening Weekend, Friday, April 13 through Sunday, April 15 will feature a Carolina League matchup between the Salem Red Sox and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (Texas Rangers) as well as several family friendly promotions. The first 1,000 fans to enter the gates on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will receive a free Salem Red Sox magnet schedule. On Saturday, April 14 the Salem Red Sox will celebrate the third annual "Night of Elegance: Tuxedo Night," which will feature a Salem Red Sox Tuxedo T-shirt giveaway to the first 1,000 fans and tuxedo uniforms for all Salem Red Sox players and coaches during the game. Opening Weekend and the 2012 season is presented by LewisGale Medical Regional Health System.

The 2012 season will feature several different theme nights including Jersey Shore Night, College Football Rivalry Night, Elvis Night, Awful Night, Hee Haw Night, 80s and 90s Night, as well as Hero, Teacher, and Military Appreciation Nights. The Red Sox will host its annual "Pink in the Park Weekend," an initiative to raise funds and awareness for Susan G. Komen for the Cure, on Friday, May 18 through Sunday, May 20. The Red Sox will also spoof the Occupy movement with Occu"pie" Ballstreet weekend on Thursday, June 14 through Saturday, June 16. The weekend will start by featuring a pizza competition to determine who has the best pizza "pie" in the Roanoke Valley as voted on by Salem Red Sox fans and end with the invitation for fans to "camp out" on the field after Saturday's game. The Red Sox will also host special appearances by Jerry "the King" Lawler and Team Ghost Riders, a group of monkeys that ride on the back of dogs and herd goats in the outfield.

Every weekend throughout the 2012 season will feature a player poster giveaway. The first 500 fans through the gate every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday will receive a free player poster featuring a Salem Red Sox standout and will have the opportunity to get their poster signed by the featured player after every Sunday home game. The Salem Red Sox will also invite fans to bring their dogs to the park each Sunday for "Bark in the Park." Other weekly theme nights in 2012 include Dollar Mondays, Tennis Ball Toss Tuesdays, Baseball Bingo and Pack the Park for Charity Wednesdays, Big Bang Thursdays featuring one dollar small beverages and Friday family nights. There will also be five post-game fireworks nights on Friday nights during the 2012 season.

Individual game tickets will be available for purchase on Friday, March 16 at 9am. Fans will be able to purchase single game tickets to any Salem Red Sox home game throughout the 2012 season including tickets to Opening Night on Friday, April 13.
