Second Annual Going Green Night to take place on Monday, June 27th

National Grid, SEFCU and a host of other partners present second annual Going Green Night
July 24, 2009
TROY, NY -- On July 30, 2008, the Tri-City ValleyCats held the first "Going Green Night" at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The ValleyCats called on friends and sponsors to help create a shift in awareness on the impact of energy efficiency and the environment. On Monday, July 27th, Going Green Night returns with some new twists:

Prior to the game, the NYS Consumer Protection Board, 3N Document Destruction will host a document shredding event titled "Shred the Word!" With identity theft on the rise, shredding invaluable documents is as important as its even been. To protect your identity the shredding truck will be located at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium from 4:30 to 7:00 in the parking lot outside the stadium.

Representatives from NYSERDA, including the Socket Boy Mascot, will be on hand to greet fans and distribute energy-efficient materials to fans.

The National Grid Compressed Natural Gas vehicle will be set up outside the stadium, and their staff will be tossing out T-shirts to fans throughout the night.

SEFCU has donated 5,000 12-inch tree seedlings for the promotion. Their employees will be on hand to distribute these seedlings upon exit of the ballgame. SEFCU has a strong "green" commitment, and will be on hand to talk to people about how they can bank more green.

Other aspects of the night will feature practical green tips on how fans can make a positive impact on their surroundings. Throughout the game, a Green Vendor Fair will take place that includes tabling displays and eco-friendly giveaways from participating sponsors.

During this event these organizations will be displaying their products, services, and green practices throughout our concourse as they help us educate our fans and the community on ways to help the environment in their everyday lives. Our Going Green mascot Zoggy will be leading the festivities as well as a brand new recycling stretch during the 7th Inning. Throughout the evening we will be using our state-of-the-art video board to highlight some of our partners and pass along energy-saving tips.

Partners for "Going Green Night" include Snyder Printer, GroSolar, EcoMaids, Best Cleaners, Capitol District Supply, Capital Region Builders & Remodelers Green Council, Faddegon's Interior Plant Service - Green Roof Division, ERC Community Warehouse, EcoWater, Bath Fitter, Green Depot, NYS Consumer Protection Board, O'Brien's Pub, Culligan Water, SEFCU, Wolberg, NYSERDA, Waste Management, and National Grid.

Tickets are still available for Monday's game and may be purchased at the stadium box office, calling (518) 629-CATS or by logging on to www.tcvalleycats.com.
