Several Unique Promotional Giveaways in 2011

(Eastlake, OH) - The Lake County Captains, the 2010 Midwest League Champions and Class A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, will be announcing its complete 2011 promotional schedule this week. Today the promotional giveaways will be highlighted.

The Captains will offer many premium giveaways beginning on Opening Night, April 11 when the first 1,500 fan will receive a Championship Banner Fleece Blanket courtesy of Lake Health while all fans will receive a magnet schedule courtesy of PNC. The giveaways are part of the Captains Opening Night Championship Celebration.

The Cleveland Metroparks Zoo will sponsor an Elephant Webkinz giveaway to the first 1,000 kids 12 and under on April 29. The giveaway is in honor of the Zoo's brand-new African Elephant Crossing exhibit scheduled to open on May 5.

A replica Midwest League Championship trophy will be given out to the first 1,500 fans on June 4 courtesy of Lake Health.

On July 2, a Skipper Rock-N-Bobble doll, featuring the mascot playing a saxophone will be given to the first 1,500 fans, in conjunction with Rock-N-Roll weekend July 1 and 2. This is the second annual "Rockin' Skipper" bobble doll in a series of bobbles where Skipper is playing a musical instrument.

The Captains will celebrate Christmas in July on July 23 with a bobble doll featuring Skipper's nose stuck to a foul pole. The giveaway is part of the "Captains Story" series of Bobbles that the Captains introduced last year with the popular Skipper Leg Bobble Lamp as the team pays homage to The Christmas Story House located in Cleveland. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive this giveaway.

On August 6, the Captains will give away a limited edition lithograph commemorating the team's championship that will be drawn by the Captains hitting coach and artist, Jim Rickon. The first 1,500 fans will receive this item presented by the Lake County Solid Waste District.

Stanley Steemer will once again present youth replica jerseys, featuring the Captains new home jerseys to the first 1,000 kids 12 and under through the gates on August 12.

Just in time for the return of the school year, soft-sided lunchboxes will be provided to the first 1,000 kids 12 and under, courtesy of Lake Health, on August 20.

Team trading card sets, courtesy of Time Warner Cable, will be a two-day giveaway again this year. Half the set will be handed out on September 3 while the second half of the set will be distributed on September 4 to the first 1,000 fans each day.

The Captains will begin defense of its Midwest League Championship when the team opens the home portion of the season on Monday, April 11 at 7 p.m. against in the in-state rival Dayton Dragons, the Class A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. The Captains have many events planned for the evening to commemorate the 2010 championship season, including raising the championship banner, a post-game Fireworks extravaganza and a salute to Cleveland-area high school and collegiate championship teams from the past year.
