Six-run 7th too much in Tides loss

Lehigh Valley plated six runs in the seventh inning, knocking off Norfolk 6-1 Sunday evening.

The IronPigs sent 12 men to the plate in the decisive frame as they pounded out four hits and drew five walks.

Chris Tillman (5-5) took the loss for the Tides, as he allowed five runs on three hits and three walks in 6.2 innings of work. Norfolk has now scored just 10 runs in Tillman's last six starts, and the Tides have gone 0-5 over that stretch.

Norfolk out-hit the IronPigs 12 to four, but the Tides left 10 men on base and went 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position.

Joey Gathright had three hits to lead the offense, while Justin Christian singled to up his hitting streak to 11 games.

The Tides and IronPigs will meet again on Monday, with first pitch slated for 7:05.
