SJ Giants and Grizzlies give $43,362 to Stow Family

May 1, 2011
SAN JOSE - The San Francisco Giants affiliates, Class A Advanced San Jose Giants and Triple-A Fresno Grizzlies joined together on Sunday at Municipal Stadium to present a check from their fundraising efforts to Bryan Stow's Family. Both teams worked with Bryan's employer American Medical Response to collect donations for the Bryan Stow Fund.

The San Jose Giants dedicated the month of April to Bryan Stow and are proud to announce that they have collected a total of $36,181. The Fresno Grizzlies dedicated the April 23rd game to Stow, at which they collected $7,181. The total of $43,362 was presented to the family during a pregame ceremony.

"The support that our family has received from the San Jose Giants, the Fresno Grizzlies and fans throughout baseball has been overwhelming," said John Stow, Bryan Stow's cousin. "We are very thankful for everything the entire Giants organization and their affiliates have done for us during this difficult time."

"Contributions made by the San Jose Giants community were extraordinary," said Jim Weyermann, San Jose Giants President and CEO. "Especially in these difficult economic times, the outpouring of support simply validates the human spirit in each of us. Our hope is that Bryan Stow will be here on Father's Day to throw out our ceremonial first pitch."

Bryan Stow served as an AMR paramedic at the San Jose Giants games. Stow was tragically injured in Los Angeles after the San Francisco Giants season opener.

"I have never seen a cause bring so many people together as this one, it is a true testament to Bryan's character," said Weyermann. "Words cannot express our gratitude for the generosity of our fans, a symbol of the Giants community truly coming together."
