RICHMOND, VA - The Flying Squirrels complete their week-long unveiling of the team's 2012 promotional calendar with the announcement of special events at the ballpark during the 2012 season. The Squirrels will once again keep an eye on the environment with Go Green Night (April 17th) and honor America's proud servicemen and women with Military Appreciation Night presented by Budweiser (June 23rd). The team will also welcome students from across Central Virginia on Education Day (April 18th).

Tyson ® Any'tizers ® Snacks will present Camp Day 2012 (July 9th), and the Girl Scouts will hold a massive sleepover at The Diamond with the help of Call Federal Credit Union on May 11th. The Squirrels will also once again hold Faith Night on June 2nd.

"There are so many great aspects of this region and this country," said Flying Squirrels' Vice President and COO Todd "Parney" Parnell. "We are always humbled with the opportunity we have to highlight and celebrate as many of those things as we possibly can."

The team will host a two-night Independence Day Celebration (July 4th & 5th) presented by Verizon Wireless, Heart of Virginia Chevy and Kroger. The Flying Squirrels will wear special Patriotic Jerseys on July 4th and 5th, one of four special jerseys that the team will wear and auction off to fans throughout the season. The team will also don special threads to benefit breast cancer awareness with Pink Jerseys on May 13th. For the first time, the team will sport Knight in Shining Armor Jerseys for Princess Night on July 21st, and will embody the spirit of the islands with Jimmy Buffett inspired jerseys on Jimmy Buffett Night (September 3rd).
