Storm homer their way to Game 1 win

Joynt, Kulbacki, Blauer go deep to double up JetHawks

Brian Joynt, Kellen Kulbacki and Robert Blauer homered Saturday as the Lake Elsinore Storm opened the California League South Division Championship Series with a 12-6 victory over the Lancaster JetHawks.

Mitch Canham collected three RBIs and Sam Carter doubled twice and drove in two runs for Lake Elsinore .

Robert Woodard (1-0) got the win with two innings of scoreless relief, allowing one hit and striking out one.

Mike Jones went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs for the JetHawks, who host Game 2 of the best-of-5 series on Sunday.

Reliever Kyle Fernandes (0-1) surrendered four runs on five hits in two innings and suffered the loss. Box score

First-round pick Buster Posey and Tyler Graham had key hits and Brett Pill chipped in a sacrifice fly as the defending champions rallied for four runs in the eighth inning to take Game 1 of their best-of-5 series. Posey, the fifth overall selection in the June Draft, sparked the comeback with an RBI single. Box score
