Strasburg to face Wings at Frontier

Top Nationals prospect due to start May 19

Washington Nationals top prospect RHP Stephen Strasburg is scheduled to start for Syracuse on Wednesday May 19 when the Red Wings battle the Syracuse Chiefs at 7:05 p.m. at Frontier Field. It's the makeup of Tuesday's postponed contest, and will take place a few hours after Wednesday's regularly scheduled 11"05 a.m. game at Frontier.

Strasburg, 21, who entered the 2010 season as Baseball America’s #2 prospect (Atlanta outfielder Jason Hayward #1), was the first overall pick in the 2009 June baseball draft.

In seven minor league starts between Double-A Harrisburg and Triple-A Syracuse, Strasburg has a 5-1 record with a 1.06 ERA. In 34.0 innings of work, Strasburg has allowed nine runs (four earned) on 14 hits while walking eight and striking out 40. Opponents are batting just .121 (14-for-116) against him.

In his two starts for Triple-A Syracuse, Strasburg has a 2-0 record with a 0.00 ERA. In 12.0 innings of work, Strasburg has allowed just one hit and struck out 13.

May 18 tickets from Tuesday's postponed game will be honored for the Wednesday 7:05 p.m. game.
