SUMMER MOVIE SERIES AT MODERN WOODMEN PARK

Genesis Compassion Fund to benefit from unique summer experience
May 13, 2008
Fans will now have the opportunity to remember the days of drive-in theatres and summers spent lounging in their backyards as the Quad Cities River Bandits present a Summer Movie Series, sponsored by Genesis Health System, at Modern Woodmen Park.

Each Saturday night that the River Bandits do not have a home game, fans will be invited into Modern Woodmen Park to enjoy a family-oriented baseball movie played on the ballpark's videoboard. Admission is just $5.00 and all proceeds will go to the Genesis Compassion Fund, which provides eye glasses, home health equipment and medication for patients in need.

"We are excited about opening Modern Woodmen Park to our fans all summer long, even when the River Bandits are on the road," said Dave Heller, River Bandits owner. "I have no doubt that our fans will love the chance to watch a fun, entertaining movie on the outfield grass, and having every penny from these events benefit such a worthy cause as the Genesis Compassion Fund is an even better reason to enjoy our Summer Movie Series."

Gates will open at 7:00pm and the entertainment will start at 8:00pm. Fans of all ages will enjoy cartoons on the videoboard before the main attraction. Concessions, such as popcorn, candy, fountain drinks and hot dogs, will be available before and during the movie.

"We hope everyone will enjoy a very affordable family night out together while at the same time supporting the health care needs of Genesis patients who would otherwise not be able to afford the vital care that they need," added Ken Croken, Director of Marketing for Genesis Health System.

"Some of my favorite memories growing up involved piling in the car with my family and heading to the drive-in for a fun evening with my parents and sisters," said Kirk Goodman, River Bandits Vice President and General Manager. "We want to help bring back memories like that and help make new ones for our fans. This is the perfect opportunity to do so and continue to showcase Modern Woodmen Park as a year-round entertainment venue."

After already hosting showings of The Sandlot and Rookie of the Year, below are the remaining movies left on the schedule:

July 12th - The Rookie
July 26th - Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch
August 23rd - Field of Dreams
