Suns Blanked 2-0 by GreenJackets

April 29, 2012

Augusta, GA - The Hagerstown Suns (12-10) left 12 runners on base and were shutout for the second time this season in a 2-0 loss to the Augusta GreenJackets (10-12) at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta, GA, on Sunday afternoon.

Suns' starting pitcher Alex Meyer (1-3) ran into trouble in the fourth inning when he allowed both runs on four hits in that frame, enough to hand the right-hander his third loss of the season. Meyer, however, did establish new career highs with 5.2 innings pitched and eight strike outs. Lefty Christian Meza pitched 2.1 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to finish the game.

BOX SCORE

Cutter Dykstra (2-for-4) had his seventh multi-hit game and extended his season long hitting streak to eight consecutive games with the Suns, who totaled four hits as a collective line-up on the afternoon.

Augusta starter Kyle Crick pitched four scoreless innings and struck out a career high eight batters while allowing two hits. Reliever Derek Law (1-0) earned the win, pitching the next three innings behind Crick, giving up just one hit with no walks and three strike outs.

GreenJackets' catcher Eric Sim went 1-for-2 with the eventual game-winning, RBI infield single in the fourth inning. Second baseman Carlos Willoughby was also 1-for-2 with the only other RBI in the game.

The Suns wrap-up the series and seven-game road trip on Monday night against the GreenJackets at 7:05 p.m. when RHP Taylor Hill (3-0) takes the mound against Augusta's RHP Paul Davis (1-0).
