Suns Come Up Short in 6-2 Loss in Rome

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (10-9) fell behind 6-0 after four innings and could not recover, losing 6-2 to the Rome Braves (5-15) in Rome, GA, on Thursday night.

Suns starter Wirkin Estevez (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season, going 3.1 innings while giving up six runs on eight hits, three walks and four strike outs. Suns relievers Greg Holt (2.1 IP), Chris McKenzie (1.0 IP) and Todd Simko (1.0 IP) combined to pitch 4.1 scoreless innings the rest of the game.

Cutter Dykstra was the only Suns batter in the line-up with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI.

Braves starting pitcher Rafeal Briceno (2-1) earned the win with six innings of work, allowing one run on four hits, two walks and three strike outs. Designated hitter Jakob Dalfonso led the Braves offense with three hits, including a double and two RBIs.

The Suns and Braves will wrap-up their four-game series on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. when LHP Kylin Turnbull (0-1) starts for the Suns. He'll be opposed by Rome's David Filak (1-1).
