Suns Dominate Crawdads in 9-0 Clinic

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (39-24) dominated the Hickory Crawdads (34-29) from start to finish in a 9-0 win at Municipal Stadium on Monday night.

Cole Leonida ripped three extra-base hits in the game, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and two RBIs. Justin Miller went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBIs. Jason Martinson drove in his 62nd RBI of the season to add to his league leading total, while Matt Skole crushed his 14th home run of the year, tying Charleston's Tyler Austin for the SAL lead.

Suns starting pitcher Christian Meza (4-1) earned the win in his first start of the season, pitching five shutout innings, allowing just three base runners (2 H, HBP) while striking out six.

Crawdads' starting pitcher Santo Perez (2-5) suffered his second loss to the Suns this season, allowing six runs on ten hits over five innings of work.

The Suns will play game two against the Crawdads on Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Hagerstown will have RHP Alex Meyer (5-3, 3.64) on the mound against RHP Luke Jackson (5-4, 4.73) for the Crawdads.
