Suns Smack Two Grand Slams in 16-8 Drubbing of Lexington

Hagerstown, MD - Jason Martinson blasted a pair of home runs, including one of two Suns' grand slams in the game, as the Hagerstown Suns (5-1) toppled the Lexington Legends (1-5), 16-8, at Municipal Stadium on Tuesday night.

Martinson reached base and scored in all five plate appearances, finishing 3-for-3 with the grand slam, a double, and a two-run home run to conclude a six RBI night. Brett Newsome, who entered the game as a defensive replacement in the seventh inning, belted the Suns' second grand slam (1) in his lone at-bat of game. Overall, the Suns racked-up 18 hits on Legends' pitching, including four off the bat of left fielder J.P. Ramirez (4-for-5, 2R, RBI). Six of nine batters in the Suns starting line-up recorded a multi-hit game, while seven batters had at least one RBI.

Suns starting pitcher Wirkin Estevez (1-0) struck out seven batters over five innings, earning his first win of the season.

Legends designated hitter Zack Johnson led Lexington's offense with a two-run home run and three RBIs on the night. First baseman Kyle Burnett also homered and drove in a pair of runs. Starting pitcher Carlos Quevedo (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs in three innings of work.

The Suns look to sweep the series with Lexington in game three at Municipal Stadium on Wednesday morning at 10:35 a.m. RHP Brian Dupra (0-1) will start for the Suns against Legends' RHP Mike Foltynewicz (0-1).
