Suns Sweep Intimidators with 6-5 Win in Series Finale

Hagerstown, MD - The Hagerstown Suns (36-23) made it six wins during their seven game home-stand with a 6-5 victory over the Kannapolis Intimidators (28-32) at Municipal Stadium on Thursday night.

Suns starting pitcher Alex Meyer (5-3) improved to a perfect 4-0 at home, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits, two walks and one strike out over six innings. All-star reliever Aaron Barrett nailed down his team-leading seventh save of the season, allowing one run in the ninth inning.

Jason Martinson clubbed his ninth home run of the year, a two-run shot, and upped his league-leading RBI total to 58. Cole Leonida homered for the second straight game, while Brian Goodwin had a pair of hits and an RBI for the winners.

Intimidators' starter Erik Johnson (1-1) suffered the loss giving up six runs (five earned) over 4.2 innings of work. Ross Wilson drove in a pair of runs for Kannapolis, while Cyle Hankerd and Kevin Dubler each hit solo homers.

The Suns will now travel to Kannapolis to start another three-game series with the Intimidators. LHP Kylin Turnbull (2-3, 4.91) will make the start for Hagerstown against the Intimidators' LHP Blair Walters (3-2, 2.58).
