Suns Win Second Straight over Jaxx

JACKSON, TENN. (August 19, 2010) - The Diamond Jaxx (24-28) out-hit the Jacksonville Suns (32-21) on Thursday night 10 to 7, but fell in the run column, 4-1. The loss is the second straight against the Suns and third loss in-a-row overall for the D-Jaxx. Tom Koehler 15-2) pitched just five frames, but earned his league leading 15th win of the season. Thanks to a Huntsville loss, the Jaxx remain 2 ½ games up on the Stars in the Southern League North wildcard race.

Tom Koehler struck out five and walked none in the victory. Koehler lost to the Jaxx back on April 9th in Jacksonville, but is now 1-1 against West Tenn. Steve Bray (7-9) lost his second straight decision Thursday night for the Jaxx. Bray allowed two runs on four hits in six innings on the mound. Jay Buente collected his first save of the season for the Suns.

Matt Lawson and Guillermo Quiroz had two of the Diamond Jaxx 10 hits on Thursday night. Johan Limonta was 3-for-4 with his 37th double of the season to lead the Jaxx offensively. John Ottness and Tim Torres had two hits each for the Suns. Torres added his 13th homer of the season.

Lorenzo Scott drove in Greg Burns with a double in the top of the third inning for Jacksonville. The Suns went up 1-0 on Thursday night.

Jacksonville added a run with an RBI ground out from Chris Hatcher in the top of the fifth inning. Jacksonville extended the lead to 2-0 over the Jaxx in the fifth inning.

After scoring a run in the eighth, Jacksonville's Tim Torres delivered a solo homer in the top of the ninth inning. The 13th homer of the season for Torres made it 4-0 Jacksonville.

Carlos Triunfel helped get the Diamond Jaxx on the board by smacking an RBI double bringing in Joe Dunigan from first in the bottom of the ninth. That made the final margin 4-1.

The Diamond Jaxx host the Jacksonville Suns again on Friday night at 7:05 at Pringles Park. LHP Anthony Vasquez (1-2, 2.37) makes the start for the Jaxx and RHP Jose Rosario (3-3, 2.95) gets the ball for the Suns. Friday night is Girls Night Out, presented by Mam'selle, Purina's "Dog Day in the Park" and Boy Scout Night.
