SWB Yankees announce home sites for 2012

While the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees permanent home at PNC Field undergoes a $40 million dollar rebuilding project during 2012, the organization has announced the team will play its home games in the upcoming International League season in a combination of six venues: Frontier Field in Rochester, New York, Dwyer Stadium in Batavia, New York, Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse, New York, Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, New York, Coca-Cola Park in Allentown (Lehigh Valley), Pennsylvania, and McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Even though the Yankees will play its home games in 2012 in multiple locations to accommodate the complete makeover of PNC Field, the front office operations of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees will remain in Northeast Pennsylvania. "We're very excited about the rebuilding of PNC Field about to take place," said team president Kristen Rose. "As an organization, we're invested in NEPA and that includes the upcoming season of transition, assuring our fans will have the best possible experience in 2013 and beyond when the newly reconstructed PNC Field re-opens and the Yankees return home. We are already hard at work on our plans for 2013."

The SWB Yankees one year hiatus from PNC Field in 2012 is necessary to assure the maximum investment in the rebuilding of PNC Field is used in the construction of the stadium. By utilizing continuous construction, the majority of the monies allotted for the project will go into the construction of the project and will assure the maximum level of reconstruction possible.

New York Yankees General Manager Brian Cashman added, "We appreciate the support of the clubs who will host our 2012 games and are looking forward with great anticipation to returning to Scranton Wilkes-Barre for the 2013 season. We have great fans in the region and are enthusiastic about the plans to remake the stadium."

With the exception of the playing surface, which was newly installed prior to the 2010 season and some aspects of infrastructure, the reconstruction of PNC Field will essentially make it a brand new facility. The updated stadium will feature a 360 degree open concourse, plus the rebuilt stadium will include lawn seats, state of the art scoreboards and video boards, as well as many other new features and fan amenities. In addition to enhancing the fan experience, the stadium reconstruction will also provide new jobs and economic opportunities for the region.

During the rebuilding of PNC Field, the SWB Yankees will provide fans more detailed information as the reconstruction process begins and continues throughout 2012. Current season ticket holders, corporate sponsors and suite holders will be given first priority when the team unveils season ticket and sponsorship opportunities for the newly constructed stadium once they become available.
