Syracuse Chiefs to update stadium with new Daktronics video display

30' x 55' LED display expected to be operational on May 7
March 20, 2012
Syracuse, NY-The Syracuse Chiefs, Triple-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, will see a new video display and scoreboard at Alliance Bank Stadium this season.

Daktronics (Nasdaq-DAKT) will be designing, manufacturing and installing the new LED video display. Measuring 30 feet high by 55 feet wide, the new video display will have pristine color clarity and brightness from all viewing angles, as it features Daktronics 15HD pixel layout. The cabinet also features a more robust design with an improved ventilation system. The display is capable of showing one large image or being divided into separate windows to show live and recorded video as well as an array of vivid graphics, up-to-the-minute statistics, colorful animations and advertisements.

"This new video display from Daktronics is something that our fans have sought for a long time and we are happy to finally see it become a reality," said Chiefs General Manager John Simone. "Daktronics has been great to work with, and we're looking forward to seeing it installed."

The video display system will come complete with a full front end video package featuring multiple Sony HD cameras to give the fans a full game-day experience with live video, slow motion and instant replay. A new 1500HD audio system will also be installed at the ballpark. The sound system, which will be integrated with the video system, will provide full-range sound reproduction and deliver clear and intelligible speech. Fans will experience high-impact sound reinforcement and excellent sound quality throughout the stadium.

"Daktronics is very proud to partner with the Chiefs on this high profile project," Daktronics Sales Representative Scott Willson said. "The Chiefs have made a major commitment to enhance the fan experience at the stadium, and this audio-visual package from Daktronics will bring true state-of-the-art technology to the stadium."

Work on the project will begin next week with the removal of the existing scoreboard. The project is expected to be completed in time for the Chiefs' home game on May 7 against the Durham Bulls. In the meantime, a temporary scoreboard will be installed in right field.
