Episode 33:

Arizona Fall League dream draft (4:40)

  • Tyler and Sam mix up the podcast formula a little bit, eschewing the traditional Three Strikes segment to instead hold their own draft of 2015 Arizona Fall League players. The guys go back and forth to create their dream rosters of AFL stars by picking eight position players, one starting pitcher and one DH. (As much as the two hosts would like these two squads to actually face off, this was solely done for fun.)

Brett Phillips interview (49:03)

  • Brewers No. 2 prospect Brett Phillips is in Taiwan representing Team USA at the Premier12 tournament, where Tyler is as well to call the international baseball showcase. The two talk about how Phillips got involved in this year's Premier12 tourney, overseas bat flips, his experience in the Arizona Fall League and what he took away from a 2015 season in which he broke out at the plate and was traded from the Astros.

Other news (58:00)

  • The guys discuss the biggest trade of the offseason thus far with Andrelton Simmons heading to the Angels and prospects Sean Newcomb and Chris Ellis going to the Braves. In particular, the guys get into what this will mean for the Braves farm system going forward, now that it is so stocked with pitching talent.
  • Cardinals top prospect Alex Reyes was suspended 50 games after testing positive for a drug of abuse, but Tyler and Sam talk about why they're not worried about what this'll mean for the hard-throwing right-hander's perception.
