Thunder win their 10th straight... again

Trenton puts together third double-digit win streak
July 9, 2007
Cody Ehlers and Colin Curtis each homered and drove in two runs as Trenton won its 10th straight game, 8-4, against Harrisburg Monday afternoon.

The victory marked the third time Trenton has put together a streak of 10 or more victories. The club won 11 in a row from April 20 through May 2, and 10 in a row from June 7-16.

Ehlers ripped a two-run homer in the first inning, his third, and Curtis blasted a solo shot, his first since making his debut with the Thunder on June 23, in the third and added an RBI single in the sixth.

Juan Miranda laced an RBI triple in the fifth for Trenton (57-31), which won their 10th consecutive game. The Thunder scored eight runs despite leaving 13 runners on base and going just 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position.

Thunder reliever Michael Gardner (3-2) gave up three hits while fanning one in 2 1/3 scoreless innings for the win. Starter Brett Smith, who tossed a rain-shortened no-hitter in his previous outing, yielded three runs on three hits and six walks with four strikeouts over 3 2/3 frames.

Senators reliever Gerald Plexico allowed four runs on two hits and two walks with a strikeout while recording just one out in the fifth. Jonathan Albaladejo and Josh Hall combined on three scoreless innings to close out the game. Starter Beltran Perez surrendered three runs on six hits while fanning two and walking one in four innings.

Alex Escobar lifted a sacrifice fly and Josh Whitesell smacked a two-run single in the fourth for Harrisburg (31-60). Dee Brown walked and scored on a wild pitch in the seventh.
