Tides fall in road trip finale

Norfolk was outhit 16-3 in a 7-1 setback to Charlotte Thursday night.

The Tides managed just three hits against Bartolo Colon (1-0) and Carlos Torres, as Justin Christian doubled and singled and Justin Turner added a double. The loss snapped Norfolk's six-game winning streak against the Knights.

Tides starter Troy Patton (1-3) took the loss, as he surrendered 10 hits - including three home runs - in 4.0 innings of work.

Michael Restovich and Josh Kroeger connected for back-to-back homers off Patton in the second inning, and Kroeger added another home run one inning later, a three-run blast.

The Tides will return home Friday night to begin a three-game series with the Durham Bulls, who lead the Tides by 1.0 game in the IL South Division. First pitch is slated for 7:15.
