Tides top Durham in season finale

September 7, 2009
Dave Krynzel's 10th inning home run powered Norfolk to a 4-3 win over the Durham Bulls Monday afternoon.

With the score knotted at 2-2, Krnzel launched his first homer in a Norfolk uniform off of Joe Nelson (2-2), a two-out, solo shot to right field. Brandon Snyder later added an RBI double to give the Tides a 4-2 advantage.

Durham plated a run in the bottom of the tenth to pull within one, but Josh Perrault retired Sean Rodriguez with the tying run on first base to help preserve the victory for Norfolk, its first in eight games against the Bulls.

Chris George tossed six scoreless innings for the Tides, while Jim Miller (4-4) earned the win with 1.2 scoreless innings of relief.

With the win, the Tides wrapped up their regular season schedule at 71-71, their first season at or above .500 since they went 79-65 in 2005.
