TinCaps reveal theme nights

Star Wars, superheroes, 70s celebrated on Fridays
February 23, 2011
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Parkview Field will host home runs, double plays and disco dancing in 2011! The TinCaps' schedule of Friday theme nights includes 70s Night, a Pink Out in honor of breast cancer awareness and Affiliate Night, a salute to the team's relationship with the San Diego Padres.

"One of our favorite parts of Minor League Baseball is having fun with these theme nights," TinCaps president Mike Nutter said. "Where else can you watch good baseball dressed like your favorite superhero?"

April 8 is the first Friday home game of the season and the TinCaps are planning Affiliate Night, a nod to the team's affiliation with the San Diego Padres. On April 15, the TinCaps join Major League Baseball in saluting the late Jackie Robinson on the 64th anniversary of Robinson breaking MLB's color barrier.

Mascot mayhem ensues on Friday, May 6 - it's Johnny's birthday party and mascots from near and far are on the guest list. Fans are encouraged to wear their favorite costume on Halfway to Halloween, scheduled for May 13. On May 27, the TinCaps will don pink jerseys to highlight breast cancer awareness and fans are asked to do the same on Pink Out Night.

Star Wars Night invades Parkview Field on June 3 and 70s Night boogies down on June 24. In between, College Night makes its debut as a special Thirsty Thursday theme night on June 16.

The TinCaps will pay homage to the movies throughout July; Harry Potter Night is slated for July 8, Back to the Future Night comes to Parkview Field during the Triple-A series on July 15 and Superhero Night completes the trifecta on July 22.

Fans who kept their Zubaz pants, side ponytails and Ace of Base cassettes will be right at home on 90s Night, August 12. Hawaiian shirts and flip-flops are required on August 19 when the TinCaps celebrate Buffett Night. The final Friday theme night of the year is Fan Appreciation Night, set for September 2.

Fridays are also loaded with fireworks shows this year; nine of the TinCaps' franchise-record 25 fireworks shows take place on Fridays.

Fans can order tickets online, by phone at (260) 482-6400 or in person at the Parkview Field box office, located at the corner of Ewing and Brackenridge Streets in downtown Fort Wayne.
