Record number of fans watch professional baseball in 2012
September 17, 2012
Fort Wayne, IN - The Fort Wayne TinCaps welcomed fans to Parkview Field in record numbers during the 2012 season. Including the regular season and playoffs, 408,044 fans attended a TinCaps game at the downtown ballpark this season. This is the greatest attendance total in the 20-year history of professional baseball in Fort Wayne.

"We have the best fans in the country," said TinCaps Team President, Mike Nutter. "To welcome over 408,000 people to Parkview Field to enjoy TinCaps baseball is a testament to how this community has embraced this team and the downtown ballpark experience."

Another deep run into the post-season allowed the team an extra four home games, drawing an additional 11,513 fans.

"We couldn't be more proud of the team for their run to the Eastern Division Championship and earning a spot in the Midwest League Championship Series," stated Nutter. "The fans in this community supported the team throughout the playoffs. While attendance during the playoffs is not the same as the regular season, we hosted the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th largest crowds of the entire Midwest League." There were 19 total games played during the 2012 Midwest League Playoffs.
