Toledo ninth Inning rally falls just short

August 29, 2012

The Indians took game two of their series against the Hens at Fifth Third Field on Wednesday night. Toledo starter Brooks Brown was bested by Indy ace Jeff Locke in the 4-1 loss.

Brown gave up four runs on six hits in just five innings while striking out three Indian batters. Locke was solid in his 11th win of the year, striking out seven Hens.

Yamaico Navarro kicked off the scoring with an RBI single in the top of the fourth. Jeff Larish pushed the lead to 4-0 later in the inning with a three run blast to deep left field.

The Hens were able to manufacture a run in the bottom of the sixth but the real fireworks came in the bottom of the ninth. Don Kelly drove in two runs on an RBI single to cut the lead to just two with one out. The Toledo rally fell short as Tim Wood closed the door.

Toledo and Indianapolis battle downtown Toledo again on Thursday night with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
