Triple-A Charlotte will be without Yoan Moncada, MLB.com's top overall prospect, until early next week.

The third baseman was placed on the seven-day disabled list Thursday with a sore left thumb. The move was retroactive to Tuesday.

According to the Chicago Tribune, Moncada went for an X-ray and MRI, and both tests came back clean.

In 34 games, the native of Cuba has six homers and 15 RBIs with a .905 OPS. The 21-year-old ranks in the top five in the International League in batting average (.331), hits (46), runs (27) and stolen bases (10).

Moncada had hit safely in 18 of his last 20 games.

The White Sox named Moncada their Minor League Player of the Month for April. He also took Minor League Offensive Player of the Week honors for the IL for May 1-7.
