Toyota Tundra Food Drive Underway

The Lehigh Valley Toyota Dealers Association is partnering with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs to collect non-perishable food items during the third annual Toyota Tundra Food Drive in support of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania. The Toyota Tundra Food Drive is scheduled to culminate on Thursday, December 20th at 11:30 AM when a convoy of Toyota Tundra pick-up trucks will deliver the food that was collected to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Involved in the Lehigh Valley Toyota Dealers Association are Krause Toyota of Fogelsville, Milham Toyota in Easton and Bennett Toyota in Allentown. "The Lehigh Valley Toyota dealers are pleased to be a part of such an important cause," said Kurt Koch, owner of Milham Toyota in Easton. "The Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and Northeast Pennsylvania mission aligns with our desire to help people in need of food and to distribute that food right here in the Lehigh Valley."

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will once again support the annual food drive by way of food collection and providing special appearances by Lehigh Valley IronPigs mascots. Kurt Landes, General Manager of the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, quotes, "We are honored to once again partner with the Lehigh Valley Toyota Dealers to support Second Harvest Food Bank this holiday season. The Toyota Tundra Food Drive is a great opportunity to help those in need in our area and we encourage our fans to participate by bringing donations to their local Lehigh Valley Toyota Dealership or the Majestic Clubhouse Store at Coca-Cola Park!"

Additionally, the IronPigs will be hosting a raffle for all fans that donate non-perishable food items. For each item that is donated you will receive one raffle ticket. Raffle tickets will not be sold and are only available at the Majestic Clubhouse Store at Coca-Cola Park. Raffle items include the following...

Second Harvest Food Bank distributes food and grocery products to more than 69,000 people in need per month through a network of more than 200 member agencies in Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, Pike, and Wayne counties. These agencies include emergency pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, child-care and rehabilitation centers. Last year, Second Harvest distributed over 6.38 million pounds of food to people in need through these organizations. The Food Bank also provides resources for education and advocacy to end hunger.

Being able to distribute food in an effort to eliminate hunger during the holidays will hopefully make a difference in our community," said Rob Bennett, owner of Bennett Toyota in Allentown.

When asked about being involved in the annual food drive, Bob Krause, owner of Krause Toyota in Fogelsville stated, "We are proud to be the driving force towards hunger relief in Lehigh Valley. With the support we have received from our customers, we are excited to begin food collection in our show rooms to bring to the Second Harvest Food Bank." The Lehigh Valley Toyota Dealers Association is comprised of Bennett Toyota in Allentown, Krause Toyota in Fogelsville and Milham Toyota in Easton. Second Harvest Food Bank of Lehigh Valley and Northeastern Pennsylvania is located at 2045 Harvest Way in Allentown. Second Harvest Food Bank is a program of the Community Action Committee of the Lehigh Valley (CACLV) and is a member of Feeding America, the nation's food bank network and largest hunger relief organization.
