Travs Send Four To TL All Star Game

Mount, Romine, Walden & Kiely Represent Travs July 1

The Texas League All Star Game Is June 30 at Citibank Ballpark in Midland, Texas.

Rosters for the annual Texas League All Star Game were announced this afternoon by the host Midland RockHounds, and four Arkansas Travelers have been selected to play for the North Division. The Travs' double play combination of second baseman Ryan Mount and shortstop Andrew Romine will be joined by reliever Jordan Walden and starting pitcher Tim Kiely when the All Stars battle at Citibank Ballpark on June 30 in Midland, Texas.

Balloting for the All Star rosters, which concluded on Friday, June 11, was conducted by managers, broadcasters and beat writers from each city in the Texas League.

Romine, who leads all Texas League shortstops with a .985 fielding percentage, will start the game at the keystone position. His .260 batting average is tops amongst qualifying North Division shortstops and is tied for second in the league with 13 stolen bases. The Angels selected the Winter Haven, Florida native out of Arizona State in 2007 with a fifth round draft choice.

Mount, voted in as an infield reserve, is batting .263/.327/.455. He leads all Texas League second baseman with seven home runs and 26 RBI even though he's missed nearly three weeks due to injuries. Mount was picked by the Angels with a second round draft choice out of Chino (CA) High School in 2005.

In his first season pitching out of the bullpen, Walden has a 0-0 record and four saves to go along with a 4.13 ERA in 20 appearances. In 24 innings pitched Walden has 24 strikeouts against 11 walks and 26 base hits allowed. Lately he's been surging with a 9.1 inning scoreless streak over his last nine appearances. Walden is from Mansfield, Texas and was picked by the Angels with a 12th round draft choice out of Grayson (TX) Community College in 2006.

Kiely was named to the All Star Team as a replacement for Northwest Arkansas lefty Mike Montgomery. Kiely is tied for fifth in the TL with 73.1 innings pitched over 12 starts and is tied for the league lead with two complete games. Kiely holds a 4-5 record with a 4.42 ERA. He's struck out 43 against just 13 walks and 80 base hits in 73.1 innings. Kiely, from Swampscott, Massachusetts is the Angels 27th round choice in the 2008 draft out of Trinity College.
