Triple-A roundup: Francis stifles 'Pigs
Yankees No. 2 prospect Dellin Betances recorded his first Triple-A victory, giving up one run on one hit and four walks over five innings, in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's 3-1 win over Lehigh Valley. Kevin Russo went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Craig Tatum smacked a two-run homer for the Baby Bombers. Kevin Frandsen doubled home the IronPigs' lone run.
Zach McAllister pitched seven strong innings and combined with two relievers on a four-hitter as Columbus shut down Pawtucket, 4-1. Matt LaPorta homered and drove in three runs, giving him eight RBIs in his last three games for the Clippers. Josh Kroeger accounted for the PawSox's offense with his first homer of the season.
Lucas May hit a three-run homer and scored twice and Omar Quintanilla went deep for the second game in a row, powering Buffalo past visiting Rochester, 7-3. Mets No. 3 prospect Jeurys Familia lasted three-plus innings after allowing two runs on two hits and seven walks for the Bisons. Darin Mastroianni was 3-for-4 with a walk and an RBI out of the leadoff spot for the Red Wings.
Matt Hague and Nick Evans both had four hits and three RBIs, fueling Indianapolis' 13-2 pounding of Durham. Jake Fox homered and also drove in three runs, while Pirates No. 3 prospect Starling Marte doubled twice, scored three times and picked up an RBI for the Indians. Leslie Anderson had two of the Bulls' seven hits.
Jose Constanza had three hits, including a go-ahead RBI single in the seventh inning, as Gwinnett edged Toledo, 3-2. Adam Russell struck out four over 1 2/3 innings of hitless relief to improve to 3-0, while Quintin Berry collected three hits and stole two bases out of the Mud Hens' leadoff spot.
