Pittsburgh prospect Marte drives in three runs for Indianapolis

In the International League, No. 4 Boston prospect Ryan Lavarnway went 3-for-5 with a home run and two doubles in Pawtucket's 11-7 loss to Syracuse. The Chiefs were led in the win by Xavier Paul, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and Brett Carroll who went 3-for-4 with a double. Nate Spears and Josh Kroeger each homered and drove in three runs for the Red Sox.

Sean Gallagher (6-4) scattered two runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four over five innings to pitch Louisville to a 9-2 win over Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Daniel Dorn, Bill Rhinehart and Cody Puckett each picked up a pair of RBIs for the Bats. Colin Curtis homered for the Yankees.

Chris Robinson went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, two runs and a double and No. 6 Orioles prospect Xavier Avery went 2-for-4 with two runs scored as Norfolk topped Buffalo, 7-5. No. 15 Mets prospect Matt den Dekker went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs to lead the Bisons in the loss.

Kevin Frandsen doubled twice and plated four runs and Andres Blanco went 4-for-5 with a double and two runs scored to lead Lehigh Valley in a 6-3 win over Toledo. Tyler Cloyd (7-1) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk with four strikeouts over six innings to earn the win for the IronPigs. Both Ben Guez and Zachary Maggard homered for the Mud Hens. All-Star Alex Avila went 0-for-2 in a rehab appearance.

Jim Paduch (3-5) surrendered just one run on four hits and two walks with five strikeouts over six innings to help Durham defeat Rochester, 6-1. Reid Brignac led the Bulls, going 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs. Brandon Allen added three hits of his own and Matt Mangini supplied a home run. Rene Rivera homered for the Red Wings.

Rick VandenHurk (5-0) maintained a perfect record, allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out five across seven innings in Indianapolis' 5-4 win over Gwinnett. No. 3 Pirates prospect Starling Marte had three RBIs to lead the Indians. Ernesto Mejia went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double for the Braves.

Tyler Kuhn doubled twice and plated two runs and Brian Bruney tossed five one-run innings without factoring into the decision as Charlotte beat Columbus, 5-2. Ezequiel Carrera and Matt LaPorta both homered for the Clippers.
