Colome stellar in Bulls' debut; Skaggs blanks Storm Chasers

Pirates No. 7 prospect Jeff Locke struck out 10 and gave up three hits over 7 1/3 innings in his second straight scoreless start as Indianapolis blanked Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 2-0. Matt Hague singled in a run and Jeff Clement lifted a sacrifice fly for the Indians, while Kevin Russo and Ronnier Mustelier doubled for the Yankees.

Rays No. 13 prospect Alex Colome allowed two hits over six shutout innings in his Triple-A debut as Durham defeated visiting Gwinnett, 5-3. Stephen Vogt went 3-for-4 with three RBIs for the Bulls, while Miguel Batista tossed five scoreless frames for the Braves.

Jeanmar Gomez struck out eight and gave up three hits over seven innings as Columbus edged Norfolk, 1-0. Jason Donald had two hits, including his sixth homer, for the Clippers, while Orioles No. 12 prospect L.J. Hoes had two of the Tides' three hits.

Shairon Martis fanned eight and yielded one run on three hits over seven innings in Rochester's 3-1 win at Toledo. Chris Parmelee and Rene Rivera collected three hits apiece for the Red Wings, while Tigers No. 14 prospect Adam Wilk struck out eight over seven frames for the Mud Hens.

Greg Golson delivered a two-run double in a three-run fourth inning that carried Charlotte past Louisville, 3-1. Five pitchers combined on a six-hitter for the Knights, while Felix Perez doubled home the Bats' only run.

Billy Buckner allowed four hits over 6 1/3 scoreless innings to win his third straight start as Pawtucket shut down Lehigh Valley, 7-1. Mauro Gomez drilled his 21st homer and scored twice, while Red Sox No. 17 prospect J.C. Linares drove in two runs for the winners. Hector Luna accounted for the IronPigs' offense with his sixth homer.

Josh Satin went 4-for-5 with a homer and four RBIs, powering Buffalo to a 13-7 victory over visiting Syracuse. Lucas Duda and Mike Nickeas also went deep for the Bisons, while Jarrett Hoffpauir was 3-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs for the Chiefs.

D-backs No. 3 prospect Tyler Skaggs struck out nine over seven shutout frames to outduel Wil Myers and Jake Odorizzi in Reno's 5-3 victory in Omaha. Mike Jacobs smacked a two-run homer off Odorizzi for the Aces, while Myers fanned twice in three at-bats against Skaggs.

Cubs No. 11 prospect Josh Vitters collected three hits, including a double, but Iowa fell to visiting Colorado Springs, 4-1. Edwar Cabrera allowed two hits over four scoreless innings for the Sky Sox, while Ryan Rowland-Smith gave up a run on two hits while striking out six over six innings in a losing effort.

Mike McDade hit a three-run homer and collected four RBIs to power Las Vegas to a 6-3 road win over Albuquerque. Newcomer Tuffy Gosewisch and leadoff man Mike McCoy contributed two hits apiece for the 51s, while Jerry Sands and Scott Van Slyke went yard for the Isotopes.

Salt Lake rallied for three eighth-inning runs to defeat visiting New Orleans, 6-5. Robinzon Diaz, Luis Jimenez and Hank Conger homered for the Bees, while newly acquired Rob Brantly collected three hits and three RBIs and fell a triple shy of the cycle for the Zephyrs.

Kila Ka'aihue and Anthony Recker homered for Sacramento, which used a seven-run seventh inning to defeat Memphis, 10-2. River Cats starter Bruce Billings struck out eight over six innings of one-run ball, while Cardinals No. 7 prospect Matt Adams doubled and walked twice to raise his average to .340 for the Redbirds.

Julio Borbon capped a three-RBI night with a two-run walk-off single in the ninth inning, giving Round Rock a 8-7 triumph over Tucson. Leonys Martin went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored out of the leadoff spot for the Express. Anthony Contreras and Matt Clark smacked two-run homers for the Padres.

Eli Whiteside picked up two hits and drove in three runs, helping Fresno outslug visiting Nashville, 10-5. Ryan Lollis contributed two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Grizzlies, while Brewers No. 19 prospect Eric Farris went 3-for-5 and scored a run for the Sounds.

Mariners No. 3 prospect Nick Franklin led off the bottom of the 11th inning with his fourth Triple-A homer, giving Tacoma a 4-3 victory over Oklahoma City. Alex Liddi forced extra innings with a solo homer in the ninth for the Rainiers. Jimmy Paredes went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and fell a triple shy of the cycle for the RedHawks.
