Middlebrooks rips decisive blast; 51s' Snider collects four hits

Fernando Martinez launched a two-run homer and a grand slam to power Oklahoma City to an 11-3 romp over slumping Memphis. Jordan Lyles fanned seven over seven strong innings to improve to 2-0 and knocked in a pair of runs. Ryan Jackson went yard and drove in three runs for the Redbirds, who have lost eight straight.

Top Cubs prospect Anthony Rizzo homered twice and drove in three runs as Iowa held on to beat Round Rock, 6-5. Welington Castillo continued his torrid start with three hits, including a homer, to raise his average to .444 and Brett Jackson went yard for the Cubs. Joey Butler reached base three times and scored twice in a losing effort.

Travis Snider fueled Las Vegas' 18-hit attack by going 4-for-5 with five RBIs and finishing a triple shy of the cycle. Joel Carreno struck out eight and allowed one hit over five shutout innings before two relievers limited Colorado Springs to five hits over the final four innings to complete the shutout. D.J. LeMahieu singled to extend his hitting streak to seven games for the Sky Sox.

Marlins No. 2 prospect Matt Dominguez launched his second homer of the year and drove in two runs as visiting New Orleans beat Nashville, 6-4. Elih Villanueva improved to 3-0 on the strength of 2 1/3 innings of hitless relief and Sandy Rosario earned his fourth save with a perfect ninth. Martin Maldonado was 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Sounds.

Mike Trout, MLB.com's No. 3 prospect, tripled home a pair of runs for Salt Lake. Efren Navarro was 3-for-4 with two runs scored and Ed Lucas had three hits and an RBI for the Bees. James Darnell hit his first homer, a two-run shot in the eighth inning, for Tucson.

Joe Becker drove in three key runs as Albuquerque defeated Omaha, 7-4. Jerry Sands went yard for the Isotopes, while Luis Cruz had three hits and finished a homer shy of the cycle. Johnny Giavotella continued his hot start with two hits and an RBI for the Storm Chasers.

Brad Peacock allowed an unearned run on one hit and struck out eight over six innings, but Sacramento was beaten by Reno, 2-0. Zach Kroenke earned his first win after yielding three hits over six shutout innings and Ryan Wheeler delivered an RBI triple for the Aces. Grant Green had three hits in a losing cause.

Josh Linden had two hits, including a bases-loaded triple, to lead Fresno to a 6-1 win over Tacoma. Charlie Culberson chipped in two RBIs and Andrew Kown earned his second win after allowing a run on five hits over six innings for the Grizzlies. Johan Limonta drove in the Rainiers' lone run and raised his average to .385 with a pair of singles.

Major League veteran Dewayne Wise went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and a run scored to help Scranton/Wilkes-Barre hold off Buffalo, 7-5. Jack Cust reached base four times and scored three runs for the Yankees, while Vinny Rottino collected two hits and two RBIs for the Bisons.

Christian Marrero and J.C. Boscan each drove in three runs as Gwinnett chased Rays No. 3 prospect Chris Archer in the third inning and pounded Durham, 12-7. Drew Sutton and Luis Durango contributed two RBIs apiece for the Braves, while Rays No. 4 prospect Tim Beckham singled twice, drove in a pair of runs and scored once for the Bulls.

Red Sox top prospect Will Middlebrooks slugged a go-ahead three-run homer in the sixth inning as Pawtucket edged Rochester, 4-3. Junichi Tazawa worked two innings out of the PawSox bullpen to extend his scoreless streak to six, while Mike Hollimon homered and doubled for the Red Wings.

Chris Valaika's two-run double capped a three-run fifth inning that sent Louisville on its way to a 4-2 victory over visiting Columbus. Travis Webb pitched 1 1/3 innings of hitless relief for the win, while Chad Huffman doubled twice and drove in a run for the Clippers.

Cody Overbeck had two hits, including a three-run homer off John Lannan, to power Lehigh Valley past visiting Syracuse, 8-6. Hector Luna went 2-for-4 and scored twice for the IronPigs, while Tyler Moore and Mark Teahen had two RBIs apiece for the Chiefs.

John Hester hit a two-out walk-off homer in the 14th inning as Norfolk outlasted Charlotte, 4-3. Four Tides relievers combined on 7 1/3 scoreless innings and Matt Antonelli also went deep. Conor Jackson collected four singles and an RBI for the Knights.

Brandon Boggs singled home the tying run in the eighth inning and Nick Evans delivered a walk-off single in the ninth as Indianapolis rallied past Toledo. Daniel McCutchen pitched two hitless innings for the win, while Tigers No. 4 prospect Andy Oliver struck out nine and yielded one run on three hits over six frames for the Mud Hens.
