Tulowitzki reinjures groin at Triple-A
Tulowitzki, who hit a two-run homer in the first and singled in the third inning, was replaced by pinch-runner Brendan Harris after making a move toward second base in the third. He pulled himself from the game and went to the home clubhouse at Security Service Field with a trainer.
"It scared him," Rockies manager Jim Tracy said, according to the Denver Post. "So we took all precautions. I don't think it's serious, but I don't know when he will resume his rehab or join us."
Tulowitzki had hoped to play about five innings and return to the Colorado lineup sometime this weekend, but instead will meet with doctors in Denver. His strained groin has kept him sidelined since May 30.
"I don't anticipate that it's serious, but I don't have any specific timetable when it is he would resume a rehab assignment or be ready to play for us," Tracy told MLB.com. "When he initially did this way back -- [during the first series of the season, he played through it until recently] -- on a scale of [one to] 10, it was a nine. This one is at a 1 1/2 to a 2. Rather than push the envelope, we did the precautionary thing and removed him from the game."
The shortstop is hitting .287 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs over 47 games with the Rockies. His home run and injury overshadowed what lined up to be a premier pitching matchup that didn't live up to the hype as Triple-A Reno crushed Colorado Springs, 13-5.
Top D-backs prospect Bauer served up both hits to Tulowitzki and was charged with four runs on 10 hits and a pair of walks over five innings. He struck out two but still managed to get the win, improving to 4-0.
Major League veteran Drew Pomeranz (2-4) lost for the fourth time in five starts, allowing eight runs -- six earned -- on 10 hits and a walk over 5 1/3 innings for the Sky Sox. He struck out five.
Reno center fielder A.J. Pollock led the Aces' offense, going 3-for-6 with five RBIs. Ryan Wheeler also added three hits and plated three runs.
