Two Bees Among Angels September Call-Ups

SALT LAKE CITY (September 1, 2012) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim announced today that the club has recalled catcher John Hester and left-handed pitcher Andrew Taylor from Triple-A Salt Lake. Taylor is joining the Angels for the first time.

Hester, 28, has appeared in 26 games for the Bees in 2012, hitting .217 with four doubles, three home runs and 13 RBI. In 38 games with the Angels this season, he owns a .212 batting average with one double, three home runs and four RBI. The Atlanta, Ga. native and former Stanford Cardinal was originally selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 13th round of the 2006 Draft and joined the Angels organization via free agency on April 23, 2012.

Taylor, 26, has appeared in 16 games of relief for the Bees in 2012, owning a 1-0 record with a 3.50 ERA and 17 strikeouts. In 37 games of relief for Double-A Arkansas this season, he posted a 2-4 record with a 4.61 ERA and 39 strikeouts. The Durham, N.C. native and former North Carolina State Wolfpacker was originally selected by the Angels in the 34th round of the 2008 Draft. His first appearance with the Angels will be his major league debut.
