Helena, MT - Today Minor League Baseball announced Brewers starter Victor Castaneda as the Pioneer League's Pitcher of the Week. Castaneda garnered the award for his six inning shutout performance in Great Falls on Friday, July 27th. He is the second straight Brewer to win the award, as Aaron Ashby won it for his performance last week against Ogden.

In his start on Friday, Castaneda went six innings, allowing just three hits. After allowing a hit apiece in the first two innings, he only allowed one hit over his final four innings. While he did not strike out a batter, he issued only one walk.

Castaneda is in his first season in the Brewers organization and his second in professional baseball. He made his professional debut with Tijuana of the Mexican League last season, where he posted a 3-1 record with a 3.00 ERA in 24 innings. He signed with the Brewers organization on July 4th, 2017.
